Live Oak Landing has now partnered with Mark McDuffie, captain of Wounded Warrior Fishing services, to offer professional guided fishing expeditions and tours of the Choctawhatchee river system near the Emerald Coast. A prime location for fishing, visitors can get ready for a successful fishing adventure along secluded areas.

Live Oak Landing describes this new partnership as an enhanced recreational experience. Any guest to Live Oak Landing that is interested in receiving a guided fishing expedition or river tour can schedule an appointment. Mark McDuffie will provide all necessary fishing equipment as a licensed captain. Guests need only worry about what they would like to eat and drink while on their fishing journey. The tour boat can hold up to five people and half or full day tours/expeditions are available.

IMAX is coming to The Grand Theatre in Pier Park Panama City Beach July 15th, 2011.

Now Pier Park is not only home to over 80 stores and 25 restaurants but come midnight on July 15th The Grand Theatre Pier Park will open the first IMAX Theatre in the area. At the opening of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 visitors of Pier Park and The Grand Theatre will get to experience Image Maximum.

This Image Maximum or ‘IMAX’ technology has been hailed by both critics and viewers as the “next step” in movies. This new film technology allows the display of far larger images with a sharper and clearer resolution than conventional film systems.

Included in the upgrades is the installation of a wall-to-wall screen that reaches from the floor to the ceiling and curves slightly overhead toward the viewers. With a new state-of-the-art, wrap around, sound system audiences will feel as if they were in the movie, hearing every step the characters take.

A Bay County first, tickets have been sold out since the beginning of July. Locals and visitors can still be part of the excitement with Mayor’s Proclamation and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 8:30am Friday, July 15th. There will be a special showing of the film “Under the Sea 3D” at 9:30am.

The celebration continues with the Harry Potter themed grand opening party from 6:00-8:00pm where sporting your best Harry Potter gear is encouraged. Best dressed contest will be announced and all are welcome to join in.

A Weekend Of Smooth Jazz at Pier Park

In North West Florida April is a big month. For most it’s a time for spring break, warmer weather, and long days on the beach. For this Destin native it means a weekend at the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival. Both locals and vacationers look forward to this event every year.

I remember when the Sea Breeze Jazz Festival made its debut in 1999. It started small with just a few participants, mostly from local areas. Over the years I’ve seen it grow into the popular festival it is today, attracting over 5000 music lovers each day from all over the States and abroad. Not just attracting locals, now we see visitors from all over planning their vacations so they’re able to attend and enjoy an entire weekend of Jazz.

Growing out of its original home in Gulf Place, the Jazz Festival took up residents at Pier Park’s Amphitheatre in Panama City. It’s a new outdoor mall with plenty of space and plenty of shops to fill it. It’s the perfect location for a crowd of music lovers and amazing jazz performers.

Speaking of performers the line-up this year looks better than ever! Some of my favorites include: Warren Hill, Gerald Albright, Peter White, and Jones & Company. Prepare for a special treat on Thursday evening with Boney James and my all time favorite, George Benson!

Tickets are on sale now and are a bit pricey but totally worth it for a weekend of music magic! You will not want to miss the event that is recognized as being one of the top Jazz Festivals in the country, as well as “Best Event” and “Best Place to Be Seen” by Emerald Coast Magazine.
